Ride Of The Week 08/03/2020: Charlie Lumbard's 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport Club Cab

Updated: Aug 28, 2021

“The Minions Truck”

If you've been to a car show somewhere in the Williamsport/Muncy/Montoursville/Hughesville area, chances are you've see this bright yellow pick-up covered in cartoon toys. This '99 Dakota is the pride and joy of one Charlie Lumbard, car guy and car show organizer.

Charlie says that he bought the truck because his wife was encouraging him to get stuff done around the house. He figured he needed a truck for hauling mulch, drywall, lumber and such. Since he's always been a fan of the 2nd Generation Dakota, he narrowed his search to a 2000 Flame Red Short Box R/T and a Solar Yellow 1999 Dakota Sport Club Cab. Well ya know which one WON out.  The truck was a one-owner and came from a retired Air Force Veteran. It was garage kept and clean but with  90k on it the odometer the wear and tear parts began to show failing one by one. He's rebuilt the transmission, replaced the heater core/water pump, full ac restoration, break lines, full exhaust front to back, lighting all the way around, lug nuts, tires, and large percentage of paint restoration. As those updates were made the trucks workload was ever decreased to the point of sunny day show duty.

Over the years I have taken numerous photos of my ride but CARSHOW LIFE is not only about me Minion Man Charlie.  Here are some shots of my ride through others.  I am blessed to be a part of this family.  Many stages, here's through the eyes of many. HHR of NEPA, NEPA Cars and Coffee, professional photographers.  CarShowLife, and Red Wolf Detailing Concepts.  Many more of everyday car show nuts just snapping pictures of history on the lot.  Who knows where those ended up.

As for the Minions theme, Charlie again credits his wife, "The restoration spawned the idea from my wife to portray the Minion theme. The truck has since developed a following at Children's Hospitals, Trunk Or Treats and so many other benefit causes. It's taking on a life and a following of its own. Kids Smile, laugh, hug toy props, climb inside look around, have photo ops with family. It's a gift and a blessing to share and see the light it brings.

Sent a profile of your car and it’s backstory to info@carshowlife.net to be featured in a future Ride Of The Week!
